Riding around on a hoverboard has become a pretty popular pastime among kids, teens, and adults alike. Sometimes, though, you might want to enhance your experience.
Whether it’s purchasing a new attachment or spicing up your board, you can find lots of options. From the various things that you can find to add to your hoverboarding experience to the act of actually using the board, you want to have fun with it, right?
Naturally, you’ll find tons of options when you go hunting for your next addition to your hoverboard, but there are a few things you need to think about before you do. You don’t want to be overwhelmed by the choices that you’ll have at your fingertips, so we’ll try to make this a little easier on you.
What Kinds of Accessories Do You Need for Your Board?
You need to know what sort of accessories you’re looking for before you just start ordering things. Here are a few things you need to think about before you purchase:
- You need to know your board well enough to find accessories made for it. You need to know the brand, size, and model of your hoverboard because they come in various sizes for different rider needs.
- You need to consider the look of your board. Is it plain, boring, and just not you? Well, there are a few solutions for that, but you need to know what you’re looking for. Personalizing your hoverboard is part of the fun!
- Consider what you want to be able to do with your hoverboard. Do you want more stability, safety, or function? There are accessories for just about any need you might encounter while you possess a hoverboard.
- If you just need to make it easier to transport your hoverboard from place to place, there are several options that you have to choose from. It’s probably not easy to carry around, and you surely can’t just ride it everywhere. It’s not exactly suited for certain terrains.
- The last thing you need to think about is your budget for accessories. Hoverboards aren’t exactly super affordable, so you probably don’t want to spend another arm and leg to buy things to go with it since you’ve already swiped the debit card for the chunk that the board itself costs.
While these accessories aren’t always suitable for every single hoverboard, some of them are really neat. Here are the top ten best hoverboard accessories you should have.

10. Primo Hover Kart Mini Conversion Kit
First up in our picks is this nifty conversion kit that transforms your hoverboard into a small go-kart. Hoverboards are usually stand up rides, but with this attachment, you’ll be able to sit and ride. It’s made of carbon steel and aluminum, so it’s sure to be pretty sturdy. The instruction manual is also simple to follow, so assembly is easy for you.
Unfortunately, since this is a mini version, it’s made more for smaller boards and users. The seat is also a bit more flexible than might be desirable, so the rider had to sit pretty straight to prevent the seat from digging into his or her back. This is a great attachment for the kids and their boards, though, so it might be fun to get them one.
9. MightySkins Protective Vinyl Skin Decal
Number nine is more for personalization than function, but it’s useful, too. This vinyl skin comes in lots of colors and designs, so you can pick out the one that suits you best. It’s also super easy to apply to your hoverboard, and it protects it from getting scratched or beat up when you ride it around. This particular brand is also made to fit most models, so getting the right one for your board is a pretty good bet.
The only downside to this vinyl skin is that it might be a little difficult to remove the sticker that it’s on when you get it. It won’t be sticky or leave a mess when you apply it, and that’s always a good thing with products like this one.
8. Swagtron T1 Hover Board Silicone Case
Not everyone is a big fan of the vinyl decal, so you might opt for a silicone case for your board, like this one. It’s likely to be thicker than the vinyl decal, but it’ll be easier to apply because it’s not a sticker. The silicone also helps with rider grip and it protects the board from damage, including the bottom that most users don’t think too much about. There’s also a return policy if you don’t like it, and that’s always a plus.
Unfortunately, this particular case only fits the Swagtron T1 model, but don’t fret! There are lots of cases like this one for other models, too. Your case may not fit the hoverboard as snugly as it should, either, so you’ll need to be sure that you get one that fits properly and stays in place.
7. Swagtron Hover Board Carrying Bag and Case
Hitting our list at number seven is the Swagtron carrying case and bag. This is a pretty nifty accessory that makes transportation of your hoverboard easier. It has a handle and wheels, so it rolls and stands like a luggage bag, or you can carry it like a backpack or duffel bag. The straps and handle are adjustable to make using it easier. It’s a great option if you like to take your board away from home and don’t want to carry it back in your arms if it dies.
The only downside is that this is another Swagtron only product and only fits the T5, X1, and X2 models. Luckily, you can find other options similar to this one if you don’t have one of those models. You may also be able to fit smaller models in this one, so all hope isn’t lost on finding a bag that fits.
6. Waterproof Hover Board Bag Backpack
If you’ve got a model other than a Swagtron and you need a way to transport it, you’ve found it. This is probably one of the easiest ways to transport your hoverboard without putting it in your vehicle. This bag is also waterproof inside and out with nylon fabric outside and more as a liner inside. You won’t have to worry about your hoverboard getting wet if it suddenly starts raining, so long as you have your backpack with you. It comes with a lifetime warranty, too!
The downside to this product is that some of them are made better than others, and if you get one with a defect, you might lose a strap. Thankfully, the company will refund your money if this happens, but one strap breaking isn’t exactly a deal-breaker, either.
5. Swagtron Hover Board Carrying Bag
Number five on our list is another Swagtron product: the carrying bag! This particular one looks more like a duffel bag, with the two straps and the pieces to connect the straps for easier transport. This is another product made for the T5, X1, and X2 models, but it’s a bit different from the rolling case we listed earlier.
This one is water resistant and more protective of your hoverboard than the other case.
On the downside, if you use the strap to carry it like a duffel, you’ll have to leave the other handles dangling to get your board out easily, and there’s not much room inside the bag for anything other than your hoverboard and its charger. If you need more space for personal belongings, this might not be the best product for you.
4. The HoverSeat
Snagging the number four slot on our list is the HoverSeat. This accessory is kind of mind-blowing, to be honest. It attaches to your hoverboard, then you place a lawn chair of some sort on top of it, and you can drive your board around while you lounge comfortably. It’s easy to set up, too, since it just clamps on to the middle of the hoverboard, and the all-terrain wheels on it make it easy to ride across grass, gravel, or sand.
The downsides to this one are that it requires assembly and there aren’t really any brakes, so if you take it downhill, there’s a risk of losing control and wiping out. Playing around with technology of this nature requires that you be mindful of the piece and how to fully control it before you take off on a contraption such as this one.
3. XL HoverSeat
Yes, we’ve picked another HoverSeat, and with good reason. The XL version is an upgrade of the original with it’s easy transportability and comfortable sports chair included. When you’re ready to use it, you simply clamp it to your hoverboard and raise up the back of the chair. This one is a little bigger than the original because you don’t have to purchase a chair to go with it. You can also use it to transport heavy items or loads at a time.
There aren’t really any downsides to this one since it’s easier to handle than the previous version. The chair being attached is a big plus because your lawn chair won’t be falling off of this one, and if your battery dies, you can just use the attachment to transport the hoverboard back to your house or car. This one a really neat, isn’t it?
2. Hoverkart with Shock Absorber
For a full sized version of our tenth item on the list, you may want to opt for our second item: The Hoverkart. This attachment is made for full-size use, not just for smaller kids, and it’s not likely to jar anyone if you run over a bump or crack in the ground while riding. This titanium accessory comes with a six-inch tire that’s fit for all terrains, so it’ll easy drive over places that aren’t asphalt or concrete. Having one for yourself and one for the kids might be fun!
Unfortunately, if you’re a pretty tall person or are a little larger than average, you may have an issue with the size of the seat and controlling the board. The controls sit down pretty low, and being tall can contribute to instability when turning. The shock absorber also might not help as much as you’d think because it seems to make the board act as if it has a mind of its own.
1. Premium Smart Hover Board Safety Handle
It shouldn’t come as a shock that our number one accessory is fun, but also safety conscious. Purchasing a handle for your hoverboard can make the difference between falling off and being able to control the board better. It’s made of an aluminum alloy, so it’s a strong handle, and it doubles as transportation since you can roll the board around with it if you desire.
This accessory doesn’t really have any downsides, either, unless you just have a thing against aluminum. It helps the rider maintain balance while they ride, which creates better control and stability, therefore, better safety and less parental worry. Being more stable on a two-wheeled piece of technology like this will never be an issue with parents, and everyone can be calmer when they use a hoverboard.
Finding the perfect accessory for your hoverboard might be a challenge, but with this list, you’re sure to find something that interests you. These products are all within a good budget, too, so there’s no breaking the bank to buy any of them! Personalize your hoverboarding experience, make sure you and your kids are safe while riding, and make them more fun and comfortable to use.
