Containment is a softcore horror movie with thriller elements. It describes a work without electricity, water and absolutely no explanation to why all these commodities we take for granted suddenly are unavailable. The movie focuses on the story of a few characters and their struggle to survive in a world that was taken over by chaos and destruction caused by mankind. Everything falls to pieces and civilization falls pray and savagery ruled by the law of the survival of the fittest.
Hidden shows the captivating story of a family of 3 that survived for 301 days in a bomb shelter in the aftermath of a fallout. After spending so much time hidden the family managed to stay hidden from what looms on the surface of the Earth. Now, their safety is threatened as they have been discovered by an unknown threat. Something is coming for them and the fight for survival began. The movie picks up as the family faces a new threat which is now attempting to break into their safe haven.
Nothing is scarier than an abandoned asylum. Six teenagers decide to go for an adventure and tinker with the occult in such a dark location. They soon start to experience paranormal activities that lead to a nightmare and possessions that they did not expect. The movie turns into a massacre fueled by madness and paranormal events that turns the teens against each other. It is directed by the creator of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which means that Exeter will offer at least the same kind of thrill.
7. Lost After Dark
Lost After Dark is a homage to the 1980’s craze of slasher films. It is a bloody horror that shows the story of a group of teenagers who are looking to have some fun but their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere. It does not take long for them to discover that a cannibalistic killer is chasing them down and will start to kill them one by one. It is a satiric horror that simply makes fun of the flood of blood and gore movies that have no genuine substance and poor scripts.
6. Dark Was the Night
A logging company sets shop in a forest near a small town. Their activity manages to awaken a great evil that soon invaded the small town. Everyone in the town is struck down by fear and everyone is attempting to protect their loved ones from demons from the past. The lead character, Sheriff Paul Shields attempts to save his townsfolk and banish the evil that has invaded them. Not everything goes as planned at things escalate fast with more and more people falling victims to the evil that was unleashed.
5. Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead
Wyrmwood is a great thrilling horror that follows the story of Barry, a talented mechanic and his family whose life is threatened by a zombie apocalypse that destroyed the entire world. His sister falls victim to a kidnapping by a team of soldiers that wear gas masks. Their sole purpose is to rule by the law of the survival of the fittest and they will stop at nothing. It is now up to Barry to save his sister and protect his family from the zombie threat and the masked soldiers turned into ruthless mercenaries.
Unfriended is a chilling horror story. In a world in which most of our lives is spent online on social media websites and chat rooms, a group of friends discover that their dead dear friend is once more active on the web. They soon discover that they are actually haunted by a supernatural force that used their dead friend’s online alias to stir fear into them. This escalates quickly and their curiosity quickly turns into a fight for survival against a force they do not understand.
Extinction shows a different world in which mankind is nearly extinct. The movie picks up the story nine years after an infection turned men into rabid creatures with a thirst for violence. Two men and a little girl survived in a small town. After nine years of peace things start to change as Patrick and Jack must face a deep hate that kept them apart. The infected humans appear once more and start chasing them down. The two will have to set their differences aside to protect the ones they love.
2. Insidious: Chapter 3
The third chapter in the Insidious series shows the story before the haunting of the Lambert family. It shows the time when a gifted psychic decides to use her power to contact the dead in order to save a young girl that has been haunted by a supernatural force. It turns out that asking help from the dead to fight a supernatural entity might not have been a great idea as things become even more dangerous.
Everyone should remember Poltergeist from their childhood. The 2015 released Poltergeist movie shows a similar story which some might be tempted to call a remake of the classic. It shows the story of a small family living in the suburbs whose life is completely turned around when they discover that their youngest daughter is being taken captive by supernatural forces. The movie stays loyal to the classic making use of intense and graphic scenes filled with gore and chilling supernatural events.
Horror movies might not be the kind of genre that couples would enjoy to watch on a romantic night but they are surely fun to enjoy with friends. There have been quite a lot of movies released in 2015 that prove horror movies can still be good and enjoyable. Writing has gotten better and now there is more attention to acting and special effects.
